Dickie Felton

Dickie Felton Dickie Felton was born in Liverpool in 1973. He finished bottom of his entire school in 1989. He went on to retake and spectacularly fail his maths GCSE six times. Felton is a former Liverpool ECHO and Daily Post reporter. He left journalism in 2001 to work in PR. He is now Communications Manager at National Museums Liverpool. The Day I Met Morrissey is his first book.

I’m willing another. Or at least an update of the original. Since the book came out in May 2009 I’ve had a legion of Moz disciples come forward and demand more (which is terribly flattering). My book is a little independently published tome which made the shelves of UK high street giant Waterstones. The “Most Recommended” section no less. Hurrah for taste. I found myself sandwiched on shelves squeezed between “The Indie Rock Coloring Book” and something called “Damp Squid”. How apt. Those nice people at Piccadilly Records thrust the book into their top ten of 2009. Of course the greatest ‘review’ was from Morrissey himself. He described my work as being “very attractive” on stage at Great Yarmouth in 2009. I of course, fainted instantly.

And so what next book wise? Another? An extended edition? Something entirely different? I’ve started stuttering my way through a football book. A snails pace but we will get there in the end (maybe 2017?). But yes, the fixation with Moz and his followers remains a constant. I’m still undecided. Persuade me to do another with your story of meeting Morrissey. Or a tale about your Smiths tattoo? Or the time you travelled 357 miles just to buy his latest reissue. I’m all ears. I have a working title: "Morrissey International Airport". Come fly with Moz...
